AG Mention by pnugent:

Michael Apted's Amazing Grace stars Ioan Gruffudd--in another corner of his career, Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four---as William Wilberforce, the abolitionist firebrand who was central to Britian's outlawing of slavery. I don't want to say that there's not a lot of drama in a subject like the abolition of slavery because there's not a lot of room for moral shades of gray in the issue, or because we know how it'll turn out; still, I wish the most genuinely exciting (and instructive) part of the movie deals with the way the more cunning politicians involved in the fight were able to resort to parliamentary trickery to get their way, and I wish there were more of that sort of thing in the picture and fewer scenes of Wilberforce's vile enemies laughing, Mwah-hah-hah, into the camera lens.
