I pleaded guilty, and we settled into a wonderfully entertaining evening with a small group including his close Welsh acting mate Matthew Rhys, Ioan's actress wife Alice Evans and American Idol star Ryan Seacrest.

"The Christmas Card" — a love story filmed in Nevada City and aired on the Hallmark Channel in December 2006 — has been nominated for an Emmy Award, it was announced today.

Edward Asner is a candidate for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or Movie for his role in the film, which achieved the highest ratings ever on the Hallmark Channel.

It is Asner's 15th nomination for an Emmy, which he has won seven times.

The movie depicts a soldier and a small-town woman who fall in love after she sends him a Christmas card overseas.
